Lake Nakuru Day 2: AM

We had an eventful game drive this morning - lots of close encounters with animals, which was awesome for practicing our observational techniques.

I've posted some pictures to give you a better idea of what Lake Nakuru National Park looks like, and the animals we've seen today:

We got a close up of some very active vervet monkeys. It was a challenge collecting behavioral data on these guys because they were moving around so much (and it was difficult for us to tell individuals apart). Nevertheless, they were very amusing!

This guy was looking for tasty bugs to eat.

He was having a hard time keeping his balance, however!

I couldn't resist putting this picture in. Male vervet monkeys have a bright blue scrotum, and this guy was showing his off for us.

Last but not least, these are some nasty spines on an acacia tree. We've been having to dodge these suckers while driving through bushy areas.
